Rachel Dame a Junior at NC State University studying Public Relations has to increase her course load and take English 316 in order to complete an internship this upcoming summer.
Dame had to expand her course load by taking 18 hours this semester. One of the classes she needed to complete for her internship was English 316. English 316 is a journalism class that is taught by the new professor Mr. Smith. Although English 316 is a required class Dame stated that "she finds the class might be difficult with a full course load and will challenge her ways of thinking by expanding her writing skills."
This class could be a challenge for Dame because her writing is not one of her strengths. Dame first began learning to write at a professional level her Freshman year of college in English 101.
Before that Dame had written a few papers at Mount Tabor High School in Winston-Salem, NC. Dame said that "she is still not at the skill level she needs in order to be prepared for an internship next summer but hopes that classes such as English 316 will prepare her."
